I'm running late and getting worried.

I've only managed to do 3009 words so far. What with work and other things I'm way behind but I have a lot of time off between now and the end of November, so I'm hopeful but worried.

Here we go!

Getting ready to start the 2007 NaNoWriMo. This year's novel

The Sex World War (SciFI/Adult)
Samuel Goldwyn once said “We want a story that starts out with an earthquake and works its way up to a climax". This is the book of the film. The film will be made later. If you're from Hollywood and want to make the film, give me a call.

P.S. I resisted the temptation to call it “From Here To Maternity“

I am also involved with NaNoEdMo.net the National Novel Editing Month site. More on that later.

NaNoEdMo.Net  - National Novel Editing Month
2007 - The Sex World War
2006 (winner) - SlaveWorld
2005 (winner) - Time Enough For Hate
2004 - NoMen Inc.

Winner!!

Yes, I did it. 2nd year winner. I had trouble in the middle. I then found I could dictate whilst on the road and then transcribe it later. This got the plot moving. I also found that I can write almost continuously for hours at an end. I had one day of 10K - 10,000 words. I'm not guaranteeing the quality but I did it. I finished 50,000 words.

I shall be looking at NaNoEdMo the editing month in March, but sadly the original site has closed, but there is talk of another one starting.

Anyway, I did it! I can write a novel in 30 days!!!

National Novel Editing Month

I'm interested in National Novel Editing Month. The original site closed down but there's a proposal on NaNoWriMo forums for a new one. If so I will be editing my novel in March along with others.

10K in a day!

10K!!! in one day!!!
I uploaded just before midnight yesterday and got 31045
I did about 1K after midnight before I went to bed
I did 9K between 2pm and now.
I uploaded again just before midnight and got 41129.

My 2 pennorth worth for those who want it (and even for those who don't )
I agree with the person who says just sit down and write and do nothing else and don't stop.
I can usually get 1000 or more in an hour.
which means 10 hours of continuous writing should get me 10K, which it did, more or less.
So don't stop. Breaks easily become an hour or two unless you have iron discipline. This includes sorting out the plot/chars/novel etc. I did not allow myself to stop counting. I included that in my time. I took my word count on the hour every hour regardless of whether I had to work out some plot point or not.

Any distraction costs terribly. My word count for one hour was 177. Now I did have dinner and sorted out and put out the rubbish but it shows that something you might think a 10 minute break actually can consume a whole lot more time.

Eliminate all distractions. No TV or music in the background. No pets harassing you for attention. No phone calls. Don't answer the door unless you ordered a pizza.

I agree with that but please note. Not feeding the cat is more distracting than feeding it. The cat doesn't think that's an option. Phone calls - the latest thing here (UK) seems to be to have a computer phone you up to offer you something and somehow they must know when it's the wrong time. They never phone up when I'm watching the TV but when I'm trying to do 10K in a day!!. (BTW, I put the phone down but it breaks your concentration)

Good luck with anyone doing 10K in a day. I think most people can do it if they can devote most of the day completely to it.

NaNoWriMo is starting!!!

Soon it'll be time for NaNoWriMo 2006 and the chances of finding a novel in me are at least as good as the chances of finding weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, so I'm in with a chance!!
This year I'm going for the erotic fiction section. so first the disclaimer -

DISCLAIMER: This is adult fantasy fiction. It is meant for adults to enjoy as a story. It includes non-consensual sex and sexual enslavement but is not meant to encourage or condone this in real-life. Often the idea of the story is that the recipient might like it. This is not true in real non-consensual sex. It contains adults in various combinations of sexes, and aliens and sometimes even animals (Something I don’t approve of in real life), but never children. The stories are introduced by one of the characters and stories can be skipped if they are not to your taste. As I said, it is a fantasy and it is meant to be seen as just that, something that isn’t real but can be enjoyed as a story.

And now the novel -

SlaveWorld - Slavery can be fun. SlaveWorld is dedicated to this idea, but does SlaveWorld truly exist? Is it out there amongst the thousands of inhabited planets or is it just a myth? During a spaceflight 4 people exchange stories of slavehood and SlaveWorld.

NaNoWriMo is over!

NaNoWriMo has ended. I've been a winner this year and enjoyed the process. I learnt quite a lot about how I write, what I write and how to write. I learnt how to tackle a project this big.  I learnt that deadlines and a single minded attitude can succeed. I also learnt I enjoy writing.

I look forward to doing it next year.  This blog will become active again in Oct/Nov 2006 for NaNoWriMo 2006.  We need a Municipial Liason for Berkshire next year.  I might volunteer for it.

My NaNoWriMo history to date:
2004 NoMan Inc. (6129 words)
2005 Time enough for hate (50884 words) - WINNER!!!

See you next year!
