The United Equal Parenting Conference – The Way Forward (http://www.unitedconference.com/) is proud to announce a conference that includes Neil Lyndon, vilified in the 1990s for his book “No More Sex War: The Failures of Feminism”, Barry Worrall, author of “Without Authority” that details his story at the hands of the family courts and The Equal Parenting Alliance, a new UK political party.
Following the disbanding of Fathers 4 Justice earlier this year, it was unclear which way to go and how to get there. A conference was conceived by Thames Valley Equal Parenting and the Men's Hour. Briefly known as the Men's Hour United Conference, it is now called “United Equal Parenting Conference - The Way Forward” to emphasise the equal parenting nature of the conference. It is on the day before Father's Day, Saturday June 17th, 2006. It is in London opposite Parliament and Big Ben, at the Central Hall Westminster.
The conference invites all who pursue the fight for children’s rights and the rights for both mum and dad to parent equally after a divorce or relationship breakdown. Activists, campaigners, authors and well-known figures have been invited to speak. All views are welcome on how to progress equal parenting. The conference is to encourage the exchange of ideas and contacts and will end with an open discussion of strategy and plans.
We have decided there is no fixed admission to the conference. Instead please make a donation. This can be paid at the door or via the website. Please give what you can afford. £10 or more if you can. To ensure a good place, make a donation of £10 or more on the website and you will get a reserved seat near the front.
Neil Lyndon is most famous for his book "No More Sex War: The Failures of Feminism". In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Neil Lyndon became the first journalist to point out that our culture promoted a systemic prejudice against men and that its focus on the position of women allowed it to overlook the true position of men, especially in the family.
In 1992, Lyndon synthesised and advanced these views in his book "No More Sex War: The Failures of Feminism" in which he argued that the idea of a patriarchy - the essential foundation stone of modern feminism - was bogus and that change for women in the last 200 years had closely followed the development of technologies for contraception and abortion. Contrary to the claims of feminists, Lyndon argued, Western societies had generally welcomed and encouraged change for women and men - far from resisting such change - had plainly wished to embrace change for themselves.
These articles and books created an unprecedented storm of opposition and personal abuse. No More Sex War was certainly the most aggressively attacked book of the last 50 years. Neil Lyndon became a pariah in his profession and an outcast in the London media society in which he had, for many years, enjoyed a prominent position. His income disappeared and he was bankrupted.
Barry Worrall is the author of papers and books including "Without Authority". In the first weekend of February 1990, the author was living contentedly. As an academic in computing, with a wife and two children, and comfortably housed in an affluent suburb of Newcastle upon Tyne, he looked forward to this continuing. That weekend, out of the blue, his wife left, driving off in the family car, with their two children. To Bristol, about 350 miles distant. The ensuing events were to radically change his life, and strikingly change his view of our society. The following years of the author’s life were an alternative education for him, and evolved into a remarkable re-appraisal of our society.
The Equal Parenting Alliance is a new UK political party, formed in February 2006. that believes our shambolic family law system is failing children, failing families, failing parents and putting at overall risk the future of our society it should be helping to secure. The EPA says “No child should lose a parent, when parents separate, without very good reason.”
We look forward to seeing you at the The United Equla Parenitng Conference. We invites who pursue the fight for children’s rights and the rights for both mum and dad to parent equally after a divorce or relationship breakdown. It’s a conference to discuss the best way forward for children's rights and equal parenting including mutual support, media campaigning, political lobbying, protest, marches and non-violent direct action.
Other speakers are to announced later. All views are welcome on how to progress equal parenting. The conference is to encourage the exchange of ideas and contacts and will end with an open discussion of strategy and plans.
