SCOTLAND has been hit by an alarming rise in domestic violence against men by WOMEN, the Sunday Mail can reveal.

With girl power sending out a message that aggression is the only way to succeed, more wives and girlfriends are venting their feelings through force.

Domestic violence against men has risen 81 per cent since 1999, Scottish Executive figures reveal.

The most recent figures reveal 3439 men have reported being beaten up by their partners.

A spokesman said: 'Numbers have gone up due to greater awareness and reporting. But these figures are considerably under the true incidence of abuse.'

Female violent crime has also risen by 140 per cent in 10 years, according to the Executive. Women convicted for serious assault, murder and robbery more than doubled between 1993 and 2002.

While there are 543 women's refuges in Britain, only three exist for men two of which opened this year.

In recent years feminists have tried to change it to V-Day, which is where the V is for victory, vagina, violence...

Call for men victims of family and domestic violence

The BBC is doing a five part series on bullying to screened in March/April on BBC1. One programme is on family violence. Expected to be included in this are a family who are trying to move because of bullying by schoolchildren. They are looking around for personal stories of men being bullied by women. Bullying of the whole family and/or bullying/bad reactions by the police and courts would also be of interest. I'm told it will not be a Kilroy like debate . It should just be personal stories of victims. Witnesses or corroboration would help. The producer, Dickon Le Marchant, has been unable to find any women convicted of domestic violence (what a surprise!) so the legal aspects of any accusations will have to be taken into account. Men who will tell their stories in public would be preferred to anonymity. I'm understand it should be possible to get at least one or two men's stories into this programme.

Interviews will usually be at the home of the men. Filming will be until the end of January, but to be considered you should contact Dickon Le Marchant by email [email protected] or at the office on 020 8752 6209 immediately, certainly in the next week or so. Get your story into him now, then have a word and go ahead if you are satisfied.

During this inquiry our greatest delight was hearing from the nine children and five young adults at our final meeting of the inquiry. These children and young adults were a microcosm of what this inquiry was all about. These 14 young people talked about the important issues of the inquiry - what it was like for them when their parents were separating and how their living arrangements were decided. These children and young adults were articulate, open, funny, serious and sometimes sad. They told us their stories and as a result the real meaning of this inquiry was clearly understood.

Christmas unfortunately brings news of another murder-suicide involving a divorced/separated family. From Orlando, Florida Local6 News Man, Kids Killed When Car Rams Home

A father drove his car into his in-laws' house in a fiery Christmas Day crash, killing himself and his two children minutes before he was supposed to turn them over to his estranged wife, according to Local 6 News.

Shahab Behzadpour, his 3-year-old son, Sammi, and 6-year-old daughter, Nikki, died when their car slammed into the entryway of the home located at 1122 Brantley Estates Drive in the northern Orlando suburb.

Behzadpour and his wife, Hope Custodio, had shared custody of the children and he was supposed to let them spend Christmas afternoon with his wife, relatives and neighbors told Local 6 News.

Instead, the speeding car hit a pillar at the front of the house setting off a fireball. "The car exploded on impact," Local 6 News reporter Erik von Anken said.

Neighbors told Local 6 News that Behzadpour was seen loading his trunk with plastic bottles containing a "strange" orange liquid inside, Local 6 News reported.

"The whole thing was in flames, it (fire) was real fast, I mean it was burning real fast," a neighbor told Local 6 News.

Alex Custodio, an uncle to the children, reportedly said that he believed his brother-in-law intentionally rammed the house. He said the man had in the past threatened to harm himself and the children.
