Satanic abuse?, make that social services abuse. Isle of Lewis, Scotland parents cleared of child abuse to sue police.

Last October several people were arrested for Satanic abuse. Angry mobs terrorised the charged people, frightening their children as well. One man had his house burnt out. The police did little to protect these people, accused of raping young girls. You might be tempted to say, who cares about some child rapists? Except that after 8 months the charges were quietly dropped. Along with the charges was a civil case by the social services, also dropped. The parents are considering suing the police. Once again we have a case of social services charging in like the cavalry to save everyone from the Indians (aka native Americans) and shooting the civilians instead. Once again questionable investigation techniques appear to have been used and a social services determined to believe anything no matter how thin the evidence. No sign of an apology or even an explanation. The social services haven't learnt from last time. It seems like they apply an attitude of man=guilty and woman=innocent and will suspect men of anything with no proof but when the reverse is true, a woman is the central character, no amount of evidence will convince them of her guilt until it is too late. Only when they get past this attitude will they actually start to find the real abusers.

The trial had shattered the lives of 18 people accused in the case, with one committing suicide and others losing custody of their children, while sending France into a paroxysm of soul-searching.

and then admitted that she made that up. When are we going to stop believing women unconditionally and acknowledging that an accusation by a woman can be false, in which case anonymity until convicted would be a good idea. The more women get away with lies, the more women will start to be disbelieved even when making genuine accusations. We owe it to the accused and genuine victims not to believe women without any element of reasonable sceptism.

Cannibalism trial told of suspected new cases

Detectives investigating the sensational trial of the self-confessed German cannibal Armin Meiwes revealed yesterday that two other people in Europe may have been eaten.
New evidence in the trial of Mr Meiwes, 42, accused of killing and eating a man he met on the internet, shed light on a global network that links maneaters from Austria to America, the police told the court.

Mr Meiwes was arrested after killing and eating Bernd-Jürgen Brandes in 2001, who the defence claim went willingly to his death.

"We downloaded over 3,000 pictures of gay and heterosexual sex, torture scenes and violence from Meiwes's computer and two PCs," she said.

consensual? Is that OK, even if true? And by the way, the reference to gay and heterosexual pictures is the only hint here that these were two gay men....

Baby rape - New crime for the 3rd millennium?

Following the rape of a 13-month-old baby, 43 year old James Taylor, who took pictures of himself raping the baby, was sentenced to five years in prison. Baby rape sentence 'unduly lenient'. Latest news on the royal butler is that the two Princes, William and Harry, are going to meet the ex-royal butler to ask him to stop his revelations. Amongst his revelations is that the Princess Diana believed there was a plot to kill her in a car. All this occurs just as his book has come out, and wasn't mentioned at the time and cannot be verified. Not so much he said, she said as he said, she's dead. (Sorry! Couldn't resist that!).

Football 'rape' raises suspects anonymity issue

Police are investigating a claim by a 17 year old that she was raped by 7 football (soccer) players in a London hotel, last weekend. Police probe football rape claims. The allegation has raised anonymity issues for the suspects. Rape suspects normally do not have anonymity but following cases being compromised by the press before, police do not want the suspects to be named. Not only is the British press straining at the leash, but there have been websites and emails naming suspects that the authorities are trying to stop. One chatroom has voluntarily closed down. This is not for the benefit of the suspects. It is for the benefit of the police. If the suspects are named, the witnesses could alter their stories and also the jury pool will come to the court with pre-conceptions about the case. The authorities are worried it might be possible to overturn a conviction because the possibility of a fair trial has been undermined.
